A construction site is not an ordinary office: it is temporary, dusty, constantly changing, and often far from the city centre. Yet the site office has to work from day one — drawings, estimates, procurement, accounting and site security cannot wait. This is exactly the problem ONYX solves: we build IT for construction companies from zero, quickly, and tuned to the real conditions on the ground. In this article we use the concrete work we delivered for Technicon as the example.
Technicon: full infrastructure for a ~90-person site
For Technicon (construction) ONYX set up the field/site office infrastructure: a small server room, the network and structured cabling (SCS), and perimeter CCTV — for a site of roughly 90 people. The sections below explain why each component of that project matters and how ONYX delivered it.
A quick-deploy site office network
On a site, the network has to go up fast and come down fast, because the site itself is temporary. ONYX plans wired and wireless together: reliable cabled connections for desks, and Wi-Fi coverage for engineers and supervisors moving around the site. This gives a site office network both speed and stability — even in container offices and temporary structures.
A site server room — small, but real
No site needs a giant data centre. At Technicon ONYX built a small server room: local file sharing, printing, user management, and a central point for the network equipment. A correctly sized field office infrastructure core lets the site keep running day to day without depending on the head office for everything.
Structured cabling (SCS)
Structured cabling is the invisible foundation everything else stands on. At the Technicon site ONYX designed and ran the SCS: tidy cable routes, labelled ports, a central switching point. This turns later fault-finding into minutes and makes it easy to extend the network as the site grows.
Perimeter CCTV
On a construction site the safety of equipment, materials and people is critical. At Technicon ONYX installed construction site CCTV around the perimeter — to keep entrances, storage zones and the open area under watch. The cameras run on the same structured cabling and network, so they need no separate infrastructure.
Connecting the site back to head office
A site is rarely alone. The company has a head office, other sites, and central systems. ONYX's multi-site experience is built for exactly this.
Site-to-site VPN
For MobilGroup ONYX connected 120 users across 5 branches with a site-to-site VPN. The same approach links a construction site to head office over a secure, encrypted channel.
Multi-site rollout
For CCN Altyapı ONYX built the full infrastructure (Wi-Fi, printers, PCs) across ~20 offices. That experience lets us bring new sites online quickly from a standard template.
Centralised management
Once a site is connected to head office, users, printing and files are managed from a central point — reducing the need to administer each site on its own.
Why ONYX
ONYX treats temporary office IT for construction companies not just as selling boxes, but as turnkey delivery: cabling, network, server, cameras and the link back to head office — from a single team. The vendors we use are real and enterprise-grade: Cisco, Dell, HPE, Fortinet, Mikrotik, Dahua, Ubiquiti. You can explore our broader services and partners.
